Firelake Grill at Tagaytay

Me and my girlfriend were scouting for a good place to celebrate my birthday, at the same time celebrate our advance monthsary. We wanted it near Manila so definitely Tagaytay was on top of the list.

Since Tagaytay is quite a passe place to be, we wanted to try places which neither of us haven't explored yet. My girlfriend was in-charge on the look out. When she hit "tagaytay restaurant" in the Yahoo! Search (yeah, not Google), Fire Lake Grill was among the first search results that caught her attention.

We weren't really sure about the resto (much with "Cliffhouse Tagaytay") location but after learning that you can eat while overlooking the Taal Volcano, we just tried thenumber and inquire more about the place.

We wanted to have it reserved on a Saturday (Feb 12), we were expecting that the resto is fully booked. We were surprised that there are still tables that needed to be filled. So, we weren't really expecting too much about the resto. We were thinking, "naku di yta masarap dun", or "mahal yata". But still, we decided to book it and see whether we made the right decision. Come Saturday, we went to Tagaytay!

It wasn't really hard to pinpoint the place. It's along the highway past the rotonda. Around 2-3 kilometers I think. When we get to see the Cliffhouse sign, we were wowed at the sight of it. There were a lot of restos there but the Fire Lake Grill Restaurant is right in front of the cliff.

The place is really romantic, cozy and laid back. Basically defines who we are. The weather also celebrated with us that day - the sun took a slight peek and the cool breeze was just relaxing. I can say this is among the perfect date place so far!

There were only a few people dining in at the time we get there so we took the chance to photo all the way! While waiting for the waiter, we feasted our eyes at the sight of the Taal Volcano and the cliff! It was very breathtaking. Neither of us can't describe how nice the scenery is. Basta, we had this urge to fly from the cliff to Taal!

Now there should be a downside. And we saw that immediately when we opened the menu. There were only quite a number of selection and the prices are way above the normal guys budget.

This steak for example is 950 pesos while the penne pasta is around 350 pesos. We were tempted to split the steak at first but there is splitting fee worth 95 pesos so we just ordered the pasta. Haha ang kuripot talaga!

Overall though, the steak is one of the most tasteful I had and the pasta was superb. Truly your money's worth. Considering that the place is really lovely and serene as well. By the way we also tried, Fling Frozen Yoghurt afterwards. Very very satisfying as well!

So for couples who haven't tried the place, visiting this resto is really worthwhile of your time. You can go to Picnic Grove or try Zipline after but not really after, after. You don't want to waste 1500 worth of meal for puking. Hehe..

To know more about the place, you can visit their website.

Ilong (at tyan) ni Angelo gave it 5 out of 5 stars!
