I AM AN ACHIEVER! - Kumon Philippines Education & Parenting Seminar 2011

For four years now, Kumon will once again hold its KPEPs or the Kumon Philippines Education and Parenting Seminar this coming June 18, Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Cinema 6 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

With this year's theme, "I Am An Achiever", Kumon will enlighten participants on the individuality of each kid and how parents can adapt to it by knowing and adjusting their parenting styles. This year's guest speakers are proven to be parenting experts. Ms Dedet Panabi's stint as the editor-in-chief of Working Mom Magazine will shed light on the peculiarities of each kid - how they think, how they behave and what kind of "gift" each kid has. Complementing her talk, Doctor Randy Dellosa, a well sought-after psychiatrist to most ABS-CBN reality shows, will then give parents a handful of ways on how they can deal with their kids to make them future achievers.

The 2-hour event will be hosted once again by the very pretty and engaging Ms Patty Laurel.

What's good about this event is that this is FREE OF ADMISSION. Interested participants only have to reserve a seat by emailing their full name, mobile number and general location to

parentingseminar@kumon.ph or call (02) 885 0226.

This event is also made possible by its media partners: Philippine Star, Working Mom, The Lifestyle Network, RJ 100 and Mellow 947.

American Idol Judges Uses "SAVE" for Casey Abrams

It was a shock to learn that Casey Abrams, the heavily bearded-angsty singer from California WAS in the bottom three for this week's elimination. If it this wasn't a shocker yet, wait till you hear that along with Casey, Thia Megia and Stefano Langone were also in the bottom three.

Though, it was a tough night yesterday, I wasn't expecting him to be on the bottom three, much worse, him having the LEAST votes. The judges showed their disbelief that as soon as Casey reached half of his "last chance" song, the judges used their lone save power to keep him for at least a week. I just hope that America would vote for him more. I bet he'd shave his beard if he got nearer to the three finalists. That would be interesting!

As for Thia, she really has to pump up more personality pills to garner more votes. We don't have enough Filipino votes to keep her in the pack if she maintains her "sleepy" yet smiley aura.

Can't wait to see next week's performance. We would definitely see a tougher and intense fight.

American Idol 2011: Top 12 Results

The show opened with the Idols singing completely live a mash-up of “Born to Be Wild” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” And boy do I wish it was pre-recorded. It was awful. Not only the singing, but everything else. Who is the sound guy for this show? Do they not even know how to turn mics on? Almost every time someone new started to sing, the mic wasn’t on. Terrible. Thatperformance gets a big fat F.

Then we get the Ford fluff commercial. And that’s terrible. That gets a D. Are they ever going to figure out how to make the results shows entertaining? Why can’t they just make it 30 minutes and do all elimination stuff? It’s so frustrating.

More filler: The audience, in the style of Oprah, gets a free 10-year anniversary CD. Yay.

Even more filler: Contestant interviews. Now, I don’t mind these. I kind of like getting to know thecontestants, but then they ask them dumb questions about accents and foreign languages. And why why why did they bleep out Pia saying “shih tzu”? That’s not a curse word! It’s a dog breed! Ridiculous.
More lame: The St. Patrick’s Day lighting gag.

Finally, it’s time to build the Bottom 3. Ryan brings Jacob Lusk , Lauren Alaina and Casey Abrams to center stage. Gee, I wonder if this is just like last week and they’re all safe? Of course. They’re all safe.

Then he calls up Haley Reinhart and Paul McDonald. Paul is sent to safety and Haley is in theBottom 3. For the second week in a row.

Then it’s time for more filler in the form of Lee DeWyze. Oh how I missed those Lee spit strings. Then commercial.

When the show returns Ryan calls Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano and James Durbin to the center of the stage. Ryan, you’re not fooling me. I know they’re all safe. Stop with the lame Bottom3 assembly this season. They’re all safe. Duh.

Next up we get Stefano Langone and Naima Adedapo. Stefano is safe and Naima is back in the bottom. Ryan immediately brings Thia Megia and Karen Rodriguez up. Thia is safe, Karen is not.

So the Bottom 3 is named: Haley Reinhart, Naima Adedapo and Karen Rodriquez.
Haley: Safe
Naima: Safe

Karen: Not safe. She sings for a chance to get the judges’ save. She pulls out her version of “Hero” by Mariah Carey. She gives about a B+ performance. I wouldn’t save her. And whileJennifer Lopez clearly wanted her to stay (and probably Steven too) Randy most likely said no, so Karen is sent packing.
